Prithvi is Mother Earth, or "the Vast One" in Sanskrit. She is considered a Goddess in Hinduism & Buddhism. In myths, Courage, Valor, Knowledge, and Health were milked from Prithvi, and that resonates perfectly with reality because Mother Earth is the giver and sustainer of all life. For this painting, I wanted the benevolent, nurturing, and fruitful nature of Prithvi to shine through, so the composition, colors, and perspective bear that in mind. Each trough and peak is meant to work into an aura of calm abundance. There are ripples, gilded edges, textures and transitions. The more you see, the more you notice. As an aside - humanity needs to stop exploiting this beautiful Goddess, else as any myth will tell, we’re in for some serious trouble. Because angry Goddesses are fearsome ones.
